“Lifelong Learning in the Digital Age” as a strategy to ensure social integration and personal development

On October 3-4, 2020, the International Conference on “Lifelong Learning in the Digital Age” held in Vlora, aimed to promote lifelong learning and exploit the potential of digital technologies.

Participants came from various scientific fields and disciplines, research institutions, state and private, education providers, institutions of Islamic religious communities, community leaders, teachers and preachers from Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, USA, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro and Presevo.

This conference was organized by AIITC and IIIT under the coordination of the Institute of Education, Heritage and Tourism (IETT) Tirana, in collaboration with the Center for Advanced Study (CNS), Sarajevo, Canadian University of Technology (CIT), Tirana, Center for Understanding Intercultural “Horizon”, Podgorica, and “Ismail Qemali” University, Vlora.

In the introductory session, the Secretary General of IIIT Prof. Dr. Dr. Omar H. Kasule, Director of AIITC Ardian Muhaj, Director of CNS Prof. Dr. Ahmet Alibašić and the Director of IETT Prof. Ass. Dr. Ramiz Zekaj.

The first day of the papers had three lecture sessions that focused on: tools and resources of applying advanced methods in online learning, the importance of lifelong learning, human challenges in the digital age, Islam and virtual learning, digital library, on-line learning platforms for higher education students, Albanian language terminology in the digital age, etc.

On the second day of the conference a special place was occupied by the speech of Prof. Dr. Omar H. Kasule, Secretary General of IIIT, on the topic: “On-line teaching in the future – Learning and research”.

During the two days of the conference proceedings, twenty-six speakers presented the results of their research on the theme of the conference and presented their proposals and opinions on the future of lifelong education in the digital age.

At the end of the second day, summaries of the results and achievements of the conference were made, which fostered the spirit of cooperation and interaction between the participants and turned out to be a useful experience for them.
