“A special promotion, of a special book and author” – with these words, Prof. began his assessment. Ass. Dr. Ramiz Zekaj, Director of IETT.

Organized by IETT, on December 10, 2021 was held the promotion of the book “It is a place called song” by Najwan Darwish. In this event, Amb. Besnik Mustafaj, diplomat, lecturer, translator and well-known writer, Mr. Najwan Darwish, author of the book and well-known poet from Palestine, Prof. As. Dr. Viola Isufaj, Professor of Contemporary Literature at the Faculty of History and Philology, University of Tirana and Prof. Dr. Muhamed Mufaku, scholar and translator of the book.

The event was opened by Prof. Ramiz Zekaj, who spoke about the importance of translating Middle Eastern poets into Albanian. The book describes the history and actuality of Palestine, seen from a personal point of view of the author. He did not leave without mentioning the visible and distinct qualities of Prof. Mufakut, as he browses and reads the poems masterfully translated by him, where we can mention the general culture he has, the curiosity to learn as much as possible, the will and perseverance to do the best, and obviously the talent.

The next speech was given by Amb. Besnik Mustafaj who mentioned the uniqueness of the book “It is a place called song” for the Albanian reader.

After thanks for the hospitality and organization of the book promotion, author Najwan Darwish spoke about his journey with poetry.

An assessment of Najwan’s poetry was made by Prof. As. Dr. Viola Isufaj, who called it “Poetic Universe from Arabic literature”.

Prof. Dr. Muhamed Mufaku, expressed his gratitude for the occasion, the appreciation for the author and the organizers, who made possible the promotion of the book for the first time in Albania.

IETT will always be open to promote and support such significant publications further added Prof. Zekaj, who wished that publishing houses continue to offer to Albanian readers, works of special value, which will be true illuminators of the mind and the path to our true formation as a society and community.
