The Museum of Pogradec is located in the center of the city and consists of 3 main sections dedicated to Archaeology, Ethnography and History. Artifacts and historical documents are exhibited chronologically and typologically so that visitors have the opportunity to follow the evolution of the objects in the exhibition; tools, pottery, tools of war, jewelry, coins, and clothing.
The Museum of Pogradec is a two-story building which exhibits objects starting from the oldest settlements in the Pogradec area. The collection consists of a number of objects belonging to different periods of history. Some archaeological artifacts date back to the Neolithic, about 8,000 years ago, while others date back to the late Middle Ages. Ethnographic objects date from the end of the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 20th century, while the documents and photographs belong to the period from XVII until the end of the Second World War. In the Museum there are two Illyrian helmets that are unique in their kind, there are no more than 30 examples in the entire Balkans.
The Museum of Pogradec has a fund of 1500 objects, while only 400 of them are exposed and the rest are in the funds of this museum. The value of the objects is very important, because the region of Pogradec has had a very different story form other regions of Albania. For this reason, most of the objects are from a special local historical context and are unique compared to those of other parts of the Albanian territory.
