Gjon Mili is one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century. Born in Korça in 1904, he emigrated with his family when he was very young, first to stop in Romania, where he finished high school, and then to the USA. It was precisely in the United States where Mili turned his lifelong passion, photography, into art, as well as lighting, for which he also completed the relevant studies as a lighting engineer at the well-known MIT university (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). During this time, he started to work with photographic art.
In his museum in the city of Korça, this unique art journey of Mili is best presented, through 240 photographs and sayings of him or of other people, which have been expressed about him, exhibits with elements from his life, or from the time that lived are exhibited in the rooms of the former Romanian house, one of the symbolic buildings of the city in the pedestrian zone. Gjon Mili is known as the photographer who first used electronic flash and motion photography.
