The book “Korça without makeup” by the author Vepror Hasani, comes to the Albanian reader from the Institute of Education, Heritage and Tourism, in a voluminous and very valuable publication for the historical past of this city, but also for its touristic importance.
In this work, the history of the city of Korça is described, not as a legend or oral tradition. But with the exact date of its foundation and truthfully in every event and in every detail. It’s the product of collaboration with some elite authors engaged in writing the history of Korça. Also, the author has researched in the archives and browsed entire pages of magazine and newspapers of the time. Through an imaginary historical journey , the book tells us everything about the city that originally had a cult object, but which developed day by day, since it was located at a crossroads. The narrative begins with the meaning and meaning of the name ”Korça”, then elaborates step by step the progress of the city in urban planning, architecture, economy, culture, etc.
In addition to being an architectural mosaic, Korça is presented to us simultaneously as an amphitheater of events, epochal movements for the cultivation of the Albanian language, for the Albanian school, especially the heroism for the protection of the Korca territory coveted by the invaders. Through this narrative, the reader expands his historical and cultural baggage with the rapid developments of Korça in the field of cultural, art, literature, music, etc. The book is also accompanied by photos of Korça and its surroundings over the years, in accordance with the events mentioned in each sub- chapter, making the description even more concrete for the reader.
This book will best serve researchers and tourists, being part of libraries bookstores and information offices for tourist guides. It will also be promoted during the activities if IETT, inside and outside the country.
