Positioned in the center of the city, not far from the Castle, is the Ethnographic Museum in Elbasan, which is a two-story house from the 18th century that recounts the culture, folklore and lifestyle of the city.
What stands out the most is that in this museum the features, motifs and every piece of detail from the room where the new bride of the house used to stay are fanatically preserved.
Impressive are the hand-crafted furniture, which show exceptional craftsmanship. The high bed with the white mattress that stands in the center of the room, the bedside tables and cupboards carved with traditional motifs, as well as every other element are evidence of the cultural wealth and care for details that characterize the art of the area’s masters.
Decorative objects are carefully placed in every corner of the room. Mirrors with carved frames, elegant chandeliers, curtains, bedspreads and hand-embroidered carpets reflect in detail the culture and folk of Central Albania.
This room contains a rich mosaic of ethnographic features, so visiting it is a journey through time, a special experience that brings us closer to our roots, making us appreciate our cultural heritage more.
