In the center of the city of Elbasan, very close to Rrap of Bezistan, there is a characteristic house, which in 1986 was turned into a museum.
This museum, which represents the traditions and way of life in Elbasan, is located in one of the old houses of the city.
The building is 200 years old and represents typical Albanian post-medieval style houses. In terms of type, culture and originality, the building is one of the rarest in the country.
In compositional terms and in general in its functional and architectural conception, this apartment is very similar to apartments with attics that are commonly found in Berat and Shkodër.

The first floor was used as a warehouse where the agricultural products and the reserves were used to feed the family. Whereas, the second floor was used for living and consists of the large corridor, the girls’ work room, the women’s room, the men’s room, as well as the bride’s room.
What catches your eye is the originality of every detail inside the apartment.

The ethnoculture of this area is perfectly reflected by the works of hajak workers, cell workers, tailors, the works of opingars, saracs, the works of zilexians, gunsmiths, goldsmiths, chibukchi, samarzhin or even the ancient oil mills.
Inside this building, there are 800 rare objects that invite you to visit this impressive museum.
Come too!
