On September 25-26, 2021 in Korça, was held the International Conference on “Teaching social sciences and humanities at Balkan madrasas”, which aimed to shed light on the inclusion of social sciences and humanities and their current status in the curricula of madrasas in Balkans.

Participants came from various scientific fields and disciplines, scientific research institutions, public and private, institutions of Islamic religious communities, professors from Albania, Kosova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Northern Macedonia and Montenegro.

This conference was organized under the coordination of the Institute of Education, Heritage and Tourism (IETT), Tirana, and the Center for Advanced Studies (CNS), Sarajevo, in cooperation with the Albanian Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (AIITC), Tirana, Center for Intercultural Understanding “Horizon”, Podgorica, and the International Institute of Islamic Thought, (IIIT), USA.

The welcoming session was directed by Prof. Ass. Dr. Ramiz Zekaj, Director of IETT, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Alibašić, CNS Director, Prof. Dr. Omar H. Kasule, Secretary General of IIIT, Dr. Ardian Muhaj, Director of AIITC, M.A. Omer Kajoshaj, Director of “Horizon” and Prof. Arto Dili, V. Rector of the University “Fan S. Noli” Korça.

During the two days of the conference proceedings, the speakers presented the results of their research on the topics of the conference and presented their proposals and opinions on the shortcomings and problems in the teaching of social sciences and humanities in the madrasas.

At the end of the second day, were made summaries of the results and achievements of the conference, which fostered the spirit of cooperation between the participants and turned out to be a useful experience for them.
