Skrapar can also be called the circle of magnificent canyons. There are two large canyons, both natural monuments, among them the Osum canyon, the largest in all of Albania, which has rightly been called the “Colorado of Albania”.
The Osum canyons have a length of 26 km and are located 450 m above sea level. They are thought to have been formed 2-3 million years ago by the erosion of water penetrating deep into the earth.
Throughout the gorge there are many underground passages and unexplored caves. In the bay of this canyon, which is traversed by the Osum river, on its two sides, waterfalls flow from different villages, which pass through a rock system.
The canyon as its origin, the largest in Albania, is among the most fantastic in Europe, characterized as such by European researchers and geographers who have come to the area. This canyon has the amazing beauty also for the ecosystem that it preserves in itself, where the greenery on both sides along the slopes of the canyon is permanent.
