A significant part of the Karaburun peninsula represents a very large space, with significant potential for both biodiversity and economic and tourist development.
The following were identified: 10 types of natural habitats (2 primary habitats), 8 important floristic species, 5 endemic species and 1 species of Annex IV of the Habitats Directive. The main groups are those of dry Mediterranean pastures, open forests with valanid (Quercus ithaburensis subsp. macrolepis) and other deciduous oaks, makies with elk (Q.ilex) and less often with laurel (Laurus nobilis), garrigues and friganas, different etc.
Here there are endemic and subendemic species as well as rare and threatened species (Taxus bacata, Ceratonia siliqua, etc.)
The area has great potential for the development of tourism and ecotourism, for the values highlighted above, but also for the natural beauties that this area has. Karaburuni has some of the most beautiful trails in Albania for tourists who are passionate about hiking, very special beaches, sea bays, etc.
