Under the sound of gurgling water, in a green valley, surrounded by mountains, the village of Tamara looks like a natural amphitheater.
Tamara lies by the river Cem, which gives it a fascinating view.
The name of this village is connected with an ancient but beautiful story. Tamara was the name of the wife of a Pasha of Shkodra, who contributed to the construction of a new bridge in the second half of the 18th century over the Cem river. Thus, both the bridge and the village that was created later took her name.
Tamara is also known for its characteristic caves, which reveal secrets of Arbër’s prehistoric times. Among them, it is worth mentioning the cave of Bunë of Maçurku, Lugje of Bardhi, Nënfateşe, etc. But the most visited so far is that of Malqe Grada.
Cool temperatures, clean air, wonderful nature and delicious foods of the area have made this village one of the most favorite places for all those who like nature and mountain tourism in Albania.
